Empty dataset even though the Log View shows results when querying IP adresses

I struggle to understand why this dataset query shows no result on my FortiAnalyzer instance:

SELECT
dstport,
srcip,
dstip
FROM
$log
WHERE
$filter
AND ipstr(dstip) IN ('172.31.11.80', '172.31.11.83')
GROUP BY
srcip,
dstip,
dstport
ORDER BY
dstport,
srcip

To be sure, I am getting results if in the Log View I search for:

 dstip=172.31.11.80 or dstip=172.31.11.83

Any hint?

i changed them with some IPs from my infra and it delivered results, so the construct of the query seems fine.

i assume that when you hit Validate for the dataset from above, everything is ok.

upon doing a Analyze Query, do you get any info from the FortiGate(s) upon the selected interval/time period ?

L.E. make sure that Event Type > Traffic

Yes, my query passes validation.

Are you implying I can get info from FortiGates when doing an Analyze Query? I am not sure how. Here’s what I see on the Analyze Query View:

like below. you select the interval, the devices which should be queried and then hit Go.

if you have any logs with those filters ( dst ip ) then some output will be displayed.
