Hi

Which dongles are compatible with the Fortigate 60D? Does anyone know if there's a document for this?

Cheers,

Miata

We are assuming usb celluar modems?

The release not typically tell you want usb-modems are compatible for that FortiOs build. They list all modems types that are known supported.

yes read the release for the build you have. The compatibility matrix also has listed modems also

http://docs.fortinet.com/d/modem-compatibility-matrix

YMMV check date of doc.

I've tried running:

diagnose sys modem external-modem

But I get the following:

External modem vendor : <unknown> External modem vendor id: 0000 External modem model : <unknown> External modem product id: 0000

I have the Huawei E1692. I ran this command on the Fortigate earlier and it worked, but it told me that 'The modem is not attached' - although the modem has a green light and I'm pretty sure it's supported.

Run the following command and see if your modem appears;

 fnsysctl cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

If the USB doesn't show the modem, than the diag and execute modems will not work.

FWIW: I had that same modem and had problems that required a reboot or two.

Running this command I get:

P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 2.04  S: Manufacturer=Linux 2.4.37 ehci_hcd  S: Product=Fortinet USB EHCI host controller 0  S: SerialNumber=AHB BUS

This device is supposedly supported, but it is not showing on the Fortigate properly.

You can test the usbmodem out to make sure it's functional like on a macosx or linux. On linux you can cat thru the /proc fs and devices or use lsusb. MacOS would be systemProfiler

If they show up on those 2 systems, than it could be your fortigate or maybe you need to reboot or reset it. I had a problem for example with a sandisk 64gb ultra not showing up in 5.2.2 until I reboot unplugged and replugged it like 3 times.

I rebooted the device through the command line, but that didn't work.

Just going to re-boot the Fortigate now by unplugging it to see if that works.

Do you have any other solutions?

Test it on a non-Fortigate device to ensure it works. A guy gave me his vodafone usbmodem that we thought worked until we found out it was broken.

Was this modem used or new? Have it ever worked ? Does it work on anything else ?
