Question

Does FortiDLP store file tags within its own database or within the metadata of files themselves?

I'm trying to find a DLP solution that stores tags within the metadata of individual files, rather than in a separate database. I haven't been able to find an answer for FortiDLP, so I wanted to check here to see if anyone knew the answer.

Hello again enduringsnooze,

I found this answer. Can you tell us if it helps, please?

Based on the provided context, FortiDLP uses Windows file metadata or properties to detect and stop the movement of sensitive documents. However, the context does not specify whether FortiDLP stores file tags within its own database or within the metadata of the files themselves.

For more detailed information, you may want to contact Fortinet Support directly or refer to the FortiDLP Console User Guide and the FortiDLP Administration Guide for further insights.

Follow-Up

If you are specifically looking for a DLP solution that stores tags within the metadata of individual files, it would be best to confirm this feature with Fortinet Support or explore other DLP solutions that explicitly mention this capability.
