Deploying FortiClient Updates

I can't find any documentation about updating FortiClient so I've just been experimenting with ways to update my clients from 5.4.1 to 5.4.2.

My environment right now has Client 5.4.1, these clients are registered to a Fortigate there is no EMS, and I've used the FortiClient Configurator to make 5.4.2 package.

I'm attempting to deploy this package on machines with running 5.4.1 installs and the installation fails saying I must uninstall other versions first.

Is there a special package I can make to update? Or do I need to build out this package to deregister, uninstall, and then reinstall/register Forticlient?? That doesn't seem like that can be the correct way of doing things.

That seems strange as I've successfully upgraded from 5.4.1 to 5.4.2 simply by running the 5.4.2 installer, albeit the default one. We're now using EMS so push the upgrades that way, which also requires a single reboot.
