Crear Vlan

Hello, dear friends.

On my FortiGate, I have created a software switch with ports 4 and 5 that has a segment 192.168.141.1/24 - Wired network.

Likewise, a VLAN on that software switch has a segment 10.100.0.1/24. Wi-Fi network.

But the Wi-Fi network on my Unifi SW and Wi-Fi gives me Wi-Fi for the devices and assigns me the IP 10.100.0.1/24.

I need to create a VLAN to assign the same segment 192.168.141.1/24.

But if I create a VLAN with the same segment 192.168.141.1/24, that IP doesn't match the other one configured in the software switch. A separate network is created. How can I create a network that has the same segment and shares the same gateway so the devices can see each other? What step do I need to take?

To create a VLAN that shares the same subnet and gateway as your existing software switch, follow these steps:

1. Ensure No IP Address on VLAN Interface:
- When creating the VLAN interface on the FortiGate, do not assign an IP address to it. This will prevent it from creating a separate network.

2. Configure VLAN on FortiSwitch:
- If using a FortiSwitch, configure the VLAN without assigning an IP address. This allows the VLAN to be part of the same broadcast domain as the software switch.

3. Use a Software Switch:
- Ensure that the VLAN interface is added as a member of the existing software switch. This will allow it to share the same subnet and gateway.

4. Configure the Wireless Access Point:
- On your Unifi switch and Wi-Fi, ensure that the VLAN is configured to tag traffic with the correct VLAN ID and that it is part of the same subnet.

5. Verify Configuration:
- Check that devices on both the wired and wireless networks can communicate with each other and that they are receiving IP addresses from the same DHCP server.

By following these steps, you should be able to create a VLAN that shares the same subnet and gateway, allowing devices to communicate across both wired and wireless networks.
