config restore from 100F to 200G on 7.2 not working

Hi everyone,

got a new 200G model, used the same firmware as on the 100F, took the config backup of the old device, updated the header in the config and used an usb-device to transfer it to the new device.

After the reboot, no login is possible, wheather via GUI or console. Also the reset-button does not work (even after reboot). If I remove the admin-users from the config, it's the same https://speedtest.vet/ .

So basically you have to wipe the image and reload it via TFTP, which is of course a pain.

Anybody had similar issues? Does anybody know how to resolve the issue? Thanks!

Virtually nobody would be that brave or bold as you are.
Below is the list of a 100F's physical interfaces. I don't have a 200G so can't tell for sure but at least I know it doesn't have:
    dmz, wan1, wan2, ha1, ha2 (it has one ha instead) interfaces 
also the 200G has additional ports:
    x3, ... x8 interfaces

At least I would match/map the interface config with 200G's physical ports. If you're currently using wan1/wan2 port for your internet circuits/interfaces, even if you're lucky to get it booted up, you need to expect all wan1/wan2 related configuration including policies would be gone. Unless you modify the downloaded 100F config to move the wan1/wan2 config to like port1/port2 then re-name those all wan1/wan2 references by searching the entire config file.

The bottom line is too risky to even try because too many physical differences. If you can't re-configure the new 200G from scratch, or use a converter, I would just copy&paste necessary part of config into the running 200G's CLI. Then adjust whatever needs to be adjusted when it spews error. With that way, you could learn a lot about each part of config and why it looks like that.
