Can't print while connected to VPN

Hi all,

May you help me how will I configure our fortigate VPN so that all our employees can still print on their home while connected to our office VPN? We're using FG-100D and IPSec VPN (client VPN).

I know it actually that they can't really print on their printer (at home) because once connected to vpn, they're already part of office lan network. But I think its possible, I just miss some configuration. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,

Jam

The key to this issue is split tunneling. This will permit only the interesting (necessary) traffic destined for the office LAN to be sent down the tunnel. A side effect though is now you are allowing those remote nodes to reside on foreign networks at the same time as your corporate LAN. This can be a huge security risk, especially if you are part of a financial or health care organization.

I should explain it to our client the security risk if they used split tunneling on their VPN. Anyway, thank you for the info.
