Hi fortigelo, First you will create an application control list with a single entry that includes all instant messaging applications. You will set the list action to block. To create the application control list 1 Go to UTM > Application Control > Black/White List. 2 Select Create New. 3 In the Name field, enter no IM for the application control list name. 4 Select OK to create the new list. 5 Select Create New to add a new list entry. 6 For Category, select im. 7 For Action, select Block. 8 Select OK to save the new list entry. 9 Select OK to save the list. Next you will enable application control and select the list. To enable application control and select the application control list 1 Go to Firewall > Protection Profile. 2 Select the Edit icon of the protection profile specified in the outgoing policy. 3 Expand the Application Control section. 4 Select the Application Black/White List check box. 5 Select the no IM list from the drop-down list. 6 Select OK to save the protection profile. No IM use will be allowed by any firewall policies using the protection profile with the no IM application control list.

Are you talking about yahoo messenger? If so under application control select category IM and Yahoo then check the box for block file transfer. You do not want to block all File-transfer categories as it will block users from accessing the web.

Great Info specially to v3 users that are still not familiar with v4 (like me) LOL :) I thought it was totally gone.. from the simple check box before from v3 under IM/P2P option, now changed with a better way of creating policies. this helps a lot..
