Associating devices to users?

I'm looking at my device inventory under "User & Device".

There's a col on that page for "User".

Is that column only populated when I enable user authentication?

Is there any way to associate devices to a specific user, without authentication? (IE: to say MAC1 and MAC2 are associated with the user Bob)

How about one option right below .. GUI: User & Device / Custom Devices & Groups. Or "Device Detection" switch on Interface config page.

Or add devices through DHCP reservations either by defining those on DHCP or creating reservations from Monitor.

Explore those options in FortiOS and find what suits your needs the best.
