Are there FortiWeb plans for routing protocol support bgp support?

Hi everyone,

Are there FortiWeb plans for routing protocol support bgp support?

Fortigate and FortiWeb have full routing protocol support but not FortiWeb.

For example this can be really useful when integrating with kubernetes (k8s) cluster as Calico or Cilium CNI can send PodCIRD through BGP as a way to advertise not the Node-Port service but Cluster-IP without Vxlan tunnels.

Hello again filiaks1,

I found this solution, I hope it helps:

FortiWeb currently does not support routing protocols such as BGP, unlike FortiGate which has full routing protocol support including BGP. This limitation has been noted by users who see value in BGP support for advanced networking scenarios, such as Kubernetes integrations with Calico or Cilium CNIs. These CNIs use BGP to advertise PodCIDR routes, enabling routing of Cluster-IP services without relying on overlay tunnels like VXLAN, which can optimize network performance and simplify architecture.

There are no publicly available official plans or announcements from Fortinet indicating that BGP or other routing protocol support will be added to FortiWeb in the near future. Users have raised this topic in Fortinet community forums, but no definitive roadmap updates have been provided yet.

Given the growing use of Kubernetes with BGP-based CNIs like Calico and Cilium, BGP support in FortiWeb would indeed be a valuable feature for seamless integration and efficient routing. For now, FortiGate remains the Fortinet product with full routing protocol capabilities suitable for such scenarios
