Approved external 2.4/5 GHz patch/omni antennas for 433G

Hello,

I have a customer that wishes to deploy the FAP-433G access point in a facility which requires replacing the dipole 2.4/5 GHz antennas and using patch antenna similar to the FANT-04ABGN-0606-P-R and a omnidirectional antenna similar to FANT-04ABGN-0606-O-R.

When I search documentation on the 433G is states that the 433G supports third-party antennas.

My question is will a patch antenna from Hubbell/AccelTex (AATS-01110 former catalog number ATS-OP-245-6-4RPSP-36) and theM6060060MO1D43620 omni-directional antenna work? ATS-01110 (former catalog number ATS-OP-245-6-4RPSP-36).png

A simple way to find out is by comparing the physical specification of the antennas that can be found in the Datasheet. I guess this are the important parts:

Nominal Impedance 50 ohms
Max Power 100 Watts
VSWR ≤2.0
Connectors 4 x RPSMA Male

The coverage patterns need to be also checked. Fortinet doesn't have a compatibility matrix or test results done with 3rd party antennas.

If this is the case can I use the FANT-04ABGN-0606-P-R and the FANT-04ABGN-0606-O-R with FAP-433G or does it have to be a third party antenna?

Yes, using Fortinet Antennas is recommended. You can also discuss with your Fortinet local representative before placing the order but they appear compatible.

FAP 433G -> Antenna Type Support RP-SMA (4 total): Dual Band Antenna (4)

FANT-04ABGN-0606-P-R -> Connectors 4 x RPSMA Male

FANT-04ABGN-0606-O-R -> Connectors 4 x RPSMA Male or 4 x N-Type Male
