APIPA addresses with Forticlient on VMware 6 guests

After installing Forticlient on Windows computers in a VMware environment, they are reporting incorrect Mac and IP addresses through VMware Tools. I have a ticket in with VMware as this is causing substantial problems with our What's Up Gold monitoring. Following Forticlient install on VMware hosted machine, addresses show as APIPA addresses and duplcate macs are seen.

We confirmed VM's without forticlient installed are appearing as designed. With Forticlient, the guest shows APIPA addresses.. We're looking to see if it has to do with the method that the virtual network adapter is presented to the guest OS and also looking into possible bugs within VMware tools.

Has anyone else run into this?
