100D Firmware Issues

I was having issues with upgrading the firmware above 5.4.1, so based on research and documentation I found I have tried formatting the boot device and reloading firmware using TFTP.

It appears that the format worked, and I setup TFTP.

The file transfer starts and after 10 or so #symbols, it then says "Open boot device failed"

Then the connection to the TFTP server is dropped.

Any suggestions on next steps in getting this working correctly?

Hello,

 

Please check if you get the option to save the firmware as default image pressing 'D' at step 11 mentioned here Technical Tip: Loading FortiGate firmware image us... - Fortinet Community

If not saved as default, there would be no image in the flash to boot and could display open boot device failed error.
