Description

This article describes FortiWeb firmware-level maturity (release tags) and how to verify them in the Fortinet Support portal.

Scope

FortiWeb, FortiADC.

Solution

FortiWeb v7.6.0 introduces a new feature where the firmware image file is tagged with release tags: Release Tags

The feature has been available since FortiWeb v7.4.5.

Steps to verify:

  1. Log in to the Fortinet Support Portal.

  2. Navigate to Support -> Downloads -> Firmware Download, select FortiWeb, and select the Download tab.

  3. Browse into the desired version folder.

  • 'FWB_KVM-v7.4.8.M-build0694-FORTINET.out', where M is a mature release tag.

  • 'FWB_KVM-v7.6.4.F-build1062-FORTINET.out' where F is the feature release tag.

Verify the currently installed firmware version:

To verify the firmware version currently running on the FortiWeb or FortiADC appliance before comparing it with the downloaded firmware image, run the following CLI command:

get system status

Example output:

Version: FortiWeb-VM v7.6.4,build1062,250123 (GA.F)

Or:

Version: FortiADC-VM v7.4.6,build0xxx,24xxxx (GA.M)

The output displays the currently installed firmware version and build number. This information can be compared with the firmware image filename available on the Fortinet Support portal to determine the corresponding firmware release tag (for example, F for Feature releases or M for Mature releases) and ensure the correct firmware image is selected before performing an upgrade.

Note: The same feature was also introduced in FortiADC v7.4.6 and later.
