Technical Tip: Encountering error accessing GUI after upgrade to latest firmware
| Description | This Article describes how to fix the error in accessing the GUI after the upgrade. |
| Scope | FortiWeb. |
| Solution | After upgrading the firmware on the FortiWeb, there might be an issue. The GUI is returning 'ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE' for the Login banner, and the user will not be able to access the GUI anymore. However, the SSH will work fine.
This happens if the Pre-login banner is enabled. The error will look like the screenshot below:
This will be fixed in upcoming releases: v7.0.13, v7.2.13, v7.4.12, v7.6.7, and v8.0.3.
Note: The issue is only for v8.0.2, v7.6.6, v7.4.11, v7.2.12, and 7.0.12.
There is a workaround for this fix. For that, SSH access to FortiWeb (Putty or SecureCRT) and enter below commands:
config system global set pre-login-banner disable end
Note: This error only occurs if the Pre-login banner is enabled.
After issuing the above commands, open a new tab and enter the GUI by using FortiWeb IP. If there is still the same issue after this command, reach out to support for further help.
