Technical Tip: Reset a lost admin password on FortiWAN

This article explains how to reset a lost admin password.
Scope
FortiWAN v4.1.2 and above.
Solution

Boot up, boot device capacity: 1968MB.
Press any key to display configuration menu........
[G]: Get firmware image from TFTP server.
[F]: Format boot device.
[B]: Boot with backup firmware and set as default.
[Q]: Quit menu and continue to boot with default firmware.
[H]: Display this list of options.
Enter Selection [G]:
Enter G,F,B,Q,or H:
- Upload FortiWAN firmware V4.1.2 by TFTP in boot loader and save as Backup firmware.
[G]: Get firmware image from TFTP server.
- Reboot and boot up with backup firmware and set as default.
[B]: Boot with backup firmware and set as default.
- Follow Technical Tip: Resetting a lost admin password to reset a password.

- Reset password by CLI command after login.
>resetpasswd
- Reboot and set up backup firmware again.
