Technical Note: How to save an unencrypted configuration file of a FortiWAN device

Solution
The FortiWAN configuration file is encrypted and the information that it contains cannot be seen in a simple text editor.
Scope
Any FortiWAN device at any firmware version.
Solution
The configuration file information can be obtained from the GUI as follows:
1) Go to System > Administration > Configuration File > Save > Proceed to save device file.
2) Go to System > Administration > Configuration File > Show > Choose File > Upload File.
3) Select the displayed configuration information. Copy and paste the information into a text editor application.
