Technical Tip: Voicemails forwarded via web portal do not generate email notification

Description

This article describes the abnormal behavior where voicemails forwarded via the web portal do not generate email notification.

Scope

FortiVoice v7.4.1 (GA).

Solution

Set up an extension with voicemail, doing the following actions respectively.

  • Logging in to the extension with the desktop client. Then forward the voicemail to another extension with verified primary email.

  • Logging in to the other extension via the user portal. Then forward the voicemail to another extension with verified primary email.


When voicemails are forwarded using the user portal or desktop app, the system will not send a voicemail notification to the destination extension.

Voicemails are correctly forwarded, but there is no email generated by the FortiVoice to notify the receiving user that a voicemail has been received.


Expected Behavior:

A voicemail-to-email notification should be sent to the destination extension when there is a voicemail forwarded to that extension from the web portal and/or desktop app.


This abnormal behavior has been fixed in the next releases:

  • v7.4.2.

  • v8.0.0.
