Technical Tip: Contact search in FortiFone Desktop softclient displays duplicate results for an extension

Description This article describes the abnormal behavior where running a contact search in FortiFone Desktop softclient, it displays duplicate results for an extension that is listed in the directory and business contacts.

Physical desk phones do not have this display issue because being able to select which directory to search, Main or Business, returning the entry in that directory.
Scope FortiFone softclient for desktop.
Solution

The contact search displays all entries from different categories (Directory and Business contacts).

 

Steps reproducing the issue:

  1. Create a new contact under the business category named 'Pavol' with ext-6666.
  2. In FortiFone Desktop, run a contact search under Directory. Input the value 'Pavol' in the search field.
    As a result, it displays 2 entries for the same contact already created in step 1.
  3. Running a contact search again under Business. Input the value 'Pavol' in the search field.
    It displays other search results that are not in the Business category.

The expected behavior is being able to select which directory to perform the search (Main or Business), returning the entry in that directory.

 

Organizing the search results by different categories to avoid mixing results from categories together, which can lead to duplication.

 

This behavior has been fixed in release v7.0.1, build 102.
