Description

This article describes how the Hardware FortiToken uses a standard lithium battery with an expected battery life of 3 to 5 years.
Features such as the blanking of the LCD screen when the FortiToken is not in use aim to preserve battery life.

Scope

FortiToken.

Solution

The Hardware FortiToken FTK200 is manufactured using tamper-resistant packaging. This makes it extremely difficult to open in the first place.
Secondly, once the battery has been removed and replaced, the token will enter a permanent error state (the screen will not display any code).
Once a battery reaches the end of life, it will be necessary to replace the FortiToken.
