Technical Tip: Restore with 'All Case Configuration' will not delete exiting test cases

Description

This article describes how restoring with 'All Case Configuration' works on FortiTester.

Scope

FortiTester v7.4.4.

Solution

Log in as user 'radmin' (admin role). Navigate to Performance Testing -> HTTP -> CPS. User 'radmin' has 2 'HTTP CPS' testcases.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Reset / Backup / Restore -> Backup. User 'radmin' makes a backup for 'All Case Configuration' as 'backup1'.

Navigate to Performance Testing -> HTTP -> CPS. 'radmin' deleted all the existing 'HTTP CPS' testcases and created a new 'HTTP CPS' testcase.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Reset / Backup / Restore -> Restore. Restore with the 'backup1', just restore deleted testcases, 'radmin' has all created (three) 'HTTP CPS' testcases.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Administrators. After that, (default) admin user deletes the user 'radmin'.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Reset / Backup / Restore -> Backup. Admin user makes a backup for 'All Case Configuration' as 'backup2'.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Administrators. Admin user adds a user 'radmin' again. The new 'radmin' does not have any (HTTP CPS) testcases.

Navigate to System Settings -> System -> Reset / Backup / Restore -> Restore. Restore with 'backup2' makes no change for (new) 'radmin' testcase.

Restore with 'backup1' will restore two (HTTP CPS) test cases from (old) 'radmin' for the (new) 'radmin'.

FortiTester
