Troubleshooting Tip: 'License invalid due to exceeding allowed 0 CPUs and 0 MB RAM.' error during FortiSwitch Manager or FortiGate deployment

Description

This article describes steps to debug the issue when the following error is seen during license activation on FortiSwitch Manager CLI or FortiGate:

 

FortiSwitch Manager CLI:

License invalid due to exceeding allowed 0 CPUs and 0 MB RAM.

FortiGate: 

 

    License invalid due to exceeding allowed 0 CPUs and 0 B RAM.

Scope FortiSwitch Manager, FortiGate.
Solution

Ensure VM requirement is according to the guide: Introduction

 

Check below outputs from the CLI:

 

get system status

VM UUID: 564D73155AA7C5BB841A32D72Cxxxxxx   <----- Check the VM UUID.

 

diagnose debug vm-print-license

UUID: 564D73155AA7C5BB841A32D72Cxxxxxx <----- Check the UUID.

 

diagnose hardware sysinfo vm

UUID: 564D73155AA7C5BB841A32D72Cxxxxxx <----- Check the UUID.

 

Cause of the issue:

It is possible that an incorrect UUID was used during license generation. Contact customer support to modify the UUID and create a new license file.
