Technical Tip: How to flash FortiSwitch port LEDs from the FortiGate switch controller or the FortiSwitch CLI

Here are the steps to perform an LED flash test to identify a racked FortiSwitch using the FortiGate or FortiSwitch CLI. 

1. Port LED flash test through the FortiGate CLI.

execute switch-controller switch-action physical-ports led-flash <switch-id> <Time>

<switch-id> = FortiSwitch Name or the serial number

<time> - FortiSwitch LED flash mode in minutes < 5 | 15 | 30 | 60 >

To disable the LED flash:

execute switch-controller switch-action physical-ports led-flash <switch-id> disable

2. Port LED flash test through the FortiSwitch CLI:

diagnose switch physical-ports led-flash <time>

<time> - FortiSwitch LED flash mode in minutes < 5 | 15 | 30 | 60 >

To disable it, use the following command:

diagnose switch physical-ports led-flash disable
