Hello community!

Which FortiSIEM version is preferred for critical production environment in terms of stability, bug free and LTS

7.3.0, 7.3.1, 7.3.2 or 7.4.0?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

Miguel.

Hi @Miguel99,

Although the development process is a little bit different to FortiOS, you can consider the version number system to be similar. Which means:

  • The most recent major version (at the moment 7.4.x) is likely to receive major changes in every patch release, so don't use that in a sensitive production environment
  • The one below (currently 7.3.x) is likely stable and can be considered for new deployments. Good/stable versions are usually at the .3 or .4 patch-releases.
  • The one below that (currently 7.2.x) is still maintained, but only receives stability and security fixes. This is the one to go to, if you want to patch an existing system to the most stable version at that moment
  • The one below that (currently 7.1.x) might receive security fixes, but certainly not more. If there is a bug, it won't be fixed in that row anymore.

There is no actual LTS. You will need to upgrade to the next major release some time in future.

New major releases are scheduled for twice a year. So, following that principle, you will need to do a major release upgrade ca. once a year.

Hope that helps

Best,

Christian

We are not using sitch with webhook actions. Howverer it's not clear to me if they need to be already configured in order for the attacker to gain privilage, or it's something attackers can create to gain privilage.

Good morning,

I think your answer is not in line with the question, maybe you posted it in the wrong thread?

Best regards,
Miguel.

Hi @Miguel99

I am currently using 7.3.2 and I can say that I have encountered many bugs, especially on the appserver side. I'm thinking of trying 7.3.3 to fix the problems here. 7.4.0 has new features and I think this version should also sit.
