Technical Tip: How to configure FortiSandbox to do dynamic scanning for (.pub) file

This article describes how to configure FortiSandbox to do dynamic scanning for Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files.

Scope

FortiSandbox v4.4, v5.x.

Solution

For Optional VM, Microsoft Publisher are only available for Microsoft Office 2021. For example Optional VM 'WIN10O21V1' and 'WIN10LTSCO21V1'.

Find below steps to allow the (.pub) file to be scanned by dynamic scan in FortiSandbox.

Go to Scan Policy and Object -> Scan Profile -> VM Association -> Scanned File Types. Add 'pub' in the User-defined extensions.

Go to Scan Policy and Object -> Scan Profile -> Pre-Filter. Enable the User-defined extensions.

For v5.0.2, the 'pub' option is available as a File Type and does not need to be added manually.
