Technical Tip: How to reset the auto-focus of FortiCamera FD50

Description

This article describes a possible way to reset the auto-focus of FortiCamera FD50 if the lens motor is stuck at the end stop position.

Solution

Note: Since the process requires a factory reset, the configurations and custom language files can be exported first if needed. They can be found in the camera's web UI under System -> Maintenance -> Import/Export files:

1. Remove the glass dome using the TX10 Allen key provided with the camera.
2. With the camera powered on, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds to factory reset the camera.

3. Once the reset button is released, allow about a minute for the camera to reboot. During the initialization process, the lens should move automatically through its full travel, then start auto-adjusting the focus in small steps.
4. Reassemble the glass dome, and the camera should be ready to use.
5. Connect to the camera web UI and restore the configurations if required.
