Troubleshooting Tip: FortiPortal restore fail due to 'config system encryption' setting

This article describes how to troubleshoot when FortiPortal restores fail due to the 'config system encryption' setting.

Scope

FortiPortal.

Solution

At FortiPortal, when uploading a FortiPortal backup file via FortiPortal (GUI), it failed, and GUI message display 'restore system fail'.

During that time, it can be due to below reason:

1. Incorrect password for FortiPortal backup file.

2. Configured the config system encryption setting.

If the FortiPortal backup config file is backed up from the FortiPortal that enabled the config system encryption setting, then the new redeploy FortiPortal needs to be configured back to the same password that inside config system encryption setting.
