Troubleshooting Tip: FortiPortal license shows expiry year 2099

When a perpetual (permanent) license is used on FortiPortal, this type does not have an expiration date, but it does have a service support expiration date (managed by the support portal).

The expiry date of 2099 is expected because the license itself does not have an expiry date.

The used licensed can be confirmed by checking the System Logs after exporting the file:

Locate the following line to identify whether the license is a perpetual or subscription license:

For example, the following logs were taken from a FortiPortal device with a perpetual license:

• expiry_days=0 indicates unlimited days.
• lic_type=2 (Type 2) indicates perpetual license.

Compared to logs exported from FortiPortal with a 1 year subscription license:

• expiry_days=171 indicates a license expiry after 171 days.
• lic_type=1 (Type 1) indicates a normal license.
