Technical Tip: Access FortiPortal using spuser when remote authentication server is not reachable

Description This article describes how access FortiPortal with spuser or and local admin user which has service provider privileges when remote authentication is enabled and authentication server is not reachable. The user in this case will get an error message: Failed to establish the connection to remote authenticator.
Scope FortiPortal.
Solution

By default, when loading FortiPortal, the following URL is present on the browser:

 

https://<FortiPortal_IP/fpc/app/login>

 

If the remote admin user is not able to access FortiPortal due to the authentication server not being reachable, due to a forgotten password, or due to any other reason; the following URL can be used to access FortiPortal using the spuser, admin user, or any local admin which has a Service Provider profile assigned:

 

https://<FortiPortal_IP/fpc/app/admin>

 

For example:

 

A remote admin is unable to access FortiPortal as the remote server is down:

In the URL, replace /login with /admin to access FortiPortal locally:
