Technical Tip: Unable to launch Web RDP sessions using FQDN in FortiPAM v1.9.0

Description

This article describes an issue in FortiPAM v1.9.0 where Web RDP fails to resolve FQDNs during secret launch, although the same FQDNs can be resolved successfully through Remote RDP.

Solution

To reproduce the issue:

1. Configure DNS with an A record for win1.forti.lab pointing to 192.168.20.3.

2. Verify that no FortiPAM target object is configured using the FQDN win1.forti.lab.

3. Create a secret using the Windows_AD template and configure the target as 192.168.20.2.

4. Launch the secret using Web RDP.

5. In the Web RDP connection window, enter win1.forti.lab as the destination host.

The following error is displayed:

The system failed to resolve the host name: win1.forti.lab

Solution:
A fix will be implemented in the future release - FortiPAM v1.9.1.
