Description

This article describes how to check reboot history from the FortiNAC CLI.

Solution

  1. Check the uptime of FortiNAC.

It is the same value seen from the 'System Start Time' section seen in the 'Software' section in the GUI Dashboard:

From the FortiNAC CLI, run the command 'who -b':

fnac# execute enter-shell
fnac:~$ who -b
         system boot 2026-07-30 16:57

  1. Check reboot and shutdown history.

fnac-1:~$ last -x reboot shutdown | head -20
shutdown system down 5.15.194-yocto-s Thu Jul 30 16:57 - 01:00 (-20664+14:57)
shutdown system down 5.15.194-yocto-s Wed Jun 17 16:54 - 16:57 (43+00:02)
shutdown system down 5.15.184-yocto-s Mon Apr 27 15:12 - 16:54 (51+01:41)
shutdown system down 5.15.184-yocto-s Mon Apr 27 14:07 - 15:12 (01:05)
shutdown system down 5.15.184-yocto-s Tue Feb 17 12:55 - 14:07 (69+00:12)
shutdown system down 5.15.184-yocto-s Tue Feb 3 12:16 - 12:55 (14+00:39)
reboot system boot 5.15.184-yocto-s Tue Feb 3 10:08 - 12:16 (02:07)

wtmp begins Tue Feb 3 10:08:24 2026

  1. Check available boot sessions. In this output, there is only one journal boot retained.

fnac-1:~$ sudo journalctl --list-boots
  0 43114c3b6e764ec294b8d269e9e06582 Thu 2026-07-30 18:54:30 CEST—Tue 2026-08-04 13:27:43 CEST

If there are more journal boots retained, the output will show numbers like the following:

  • 0 > Current Boot

  • -1 > Previous Boot

  • -2 > One boot before the Previous bot -1

  1. View current startup logs:

sudo journalctl -b 0 -o short-iso --no-pager
