Technical Tip: FortiNAC cannot reach FortiCloud in a proxy environment

Description This article describes an issue where FortiNAC sends packets to destination port 443 instead of the configured proxy port, even though a specific port is defined in the proxy settings.
Scope FortiNAC v7.6.5.
Solution

This behavior is a limitation.

Occurs when DNS settings are configured after the proxy is configured using an FQDN.

If the proxy is configured with an FQDN and the FQDN cannot be resolved at the time of configuration, FortiNAC continues sending traffic to destination port 443, ignoring the configured proxy port.

Result: FortiNAC cannot communicate with FortiCloud through the proxy.

Workaround:
Go to System -> Settings -> System Communication -> Proxy Settings.

  1. Disable the 'Enable Proxy Configuration' checkbox.
  2. Select 'Save Settings'.
  3. Enable the 'Enable Proxy Configuration' checkbox again.
  4. Select 'Save Settings'.
