Troubleshooting Tip: Registration Failure with 'Unable to Find Host' message
Description
This article describes the causes of Registration Failure with an 'Unable to Find Host' message.
This error typically occurs due to one of the following reasons:
- The host shows as offline (grey adapter icon in Adapter or Host View).
- The IP address is not found.
Scope
FortiNAC versions 8.x, 9.x & F 7.x.
Solution
If the host shows offline, confirm the following:
- FortiNAC receives MAC Notification or Link State traps from the wired switch to which the host connects. See Confirming MAC Notification traps via Administration UI or Confirming Link State traps via Administration UI.
- L2 Polls for switches and/or wireless controllers complete. See Technical Tip: Troubleshooting Poll failures.
- Confirm L3 Polls are completing for appropriate L3 switches. See Troubleshooting Poll failures.
