Technical Tip: Restoring primary servers after a High Availability (HA) failover

Description

 

This article describes how to restore control to Primary Appliances after a system failover. 

Scope

 

FortiOS v7.0.3 and above.


Solution

 

Control can be resumed via the Administration UI. The Summary panel displays the status 'Running - Not In Control' of the Primary and 'Running - In Control' Secondary Servers, and the 'Resume control' button is active under the Primary Node.

  1. Log in to the Administration UI.

  2. Under the Summary panel, select the 'Resume control' button under the Primary Server no longer in control.

Press OK to confirm the 'Resume Control' Action:

Note: If version 7.0.2 or earlier is in use, the system may need to be restored via the CLI. Contact Support for assistance. If access to the CLI is available, see the related article below for instructions.
