Technical Tip: Portal Redirects Back to Registration Page after Entering Credentials
Description
This article describes an issue with the Captive Portal Registration page. After submitting the credentials, the page redirects to the Acceptable Use Policy, and upon selecting Accept, the browser is redirected back to the Registration Page.

FortiNAC all versions.
Solution
This can occur if the authentication method being used is LDAP, and the user account cannot be found.
- Verify the user account is searchable in the Directory from the appliance:
- Navigate to System -> Setting -> Authentication -> LDAP.
- Highlight the desired Directory and select the Preview button.
- Enter the User ID and select Search.
If the user account is in the Directory, information about the account should appear. If the user ID search is not returning an account in the Preview, the account may be located in a branch that is currently not configured to be searched.

Confirm the search branches used:

Select Cancel to exit the Preview window.

Select Modify.

Select Search Branches.

Under the User Search Branches section, the branch containing the user ID must be listed.
- Add the missing search branch:
- Select Add to add new search branch information. Available search branches are listed, however, it is possible to enter the personal information. If the list of available search branches is too long to display, type the first few letters of the branch needed to narrow the list.
- In the Add dialog, enter or select the Search Branch, and then select OK.
