Technical Tip: Android Mobile Agent prompts for server name

Description

Android Mobile Agent prompts the user to enter the appliance server name when the agent starts up.

The mobile agent uses SRV queries in an attempt to resolve the appliance's Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).
The agent is not sending these requests, and therefore, cannot automatically determine this information.
Communication with the server fails.

For more details on the Android Mobile Agent, see section Mobile Agent of the Administration Guide

Scope

Agent version: 5.2.6.

Solution

Workaround:  Provide end user instructions in the portal page to enter the server's URL when prompted using format https://hostname.domain.tld.  (Example: https://NACServer.mycompany.com).

Captive Portal Instructions Example:
When prompted, download a small program and run it to verify that the computer will meet the network policies.
When prompted for the Server URL, copy and paste 'https://NACServer.mycompany.com' (without quotes) into the dialog.
