Description

This article describes how to resolve an issue where it is not possible to delete a FortiAP after replacing it with a new one using the 'replace' function in the FortiManager GUI.

Scope

FortiManager, FortiAP.

Solution

If the old FortiAP is unable to be deleted from the FortiManager, despite the new AP being authorized and running as expected:

Log in to the FortiManager and go to AP Manager -> Select old FortiAP -> Authorization, de-authorize the old FortiAP, and then try to delete the FortiAP. If the delete button is still greyed out, proceed with the following:

Run the following command to force a database sync.

diagnose cdb upgrade force-retry resync-controller-adom-config

Note: It is recommended to take a backup of the FortiManager before running this command to avoid any unintended consequences.

Refresh the webpage (the FortiManager GUI). The FortiAP entry will not appear, confirming successful removal.
