Description

This article describes an installation failure that may occur after upgrading FortiGate from versions 7.2 to 7.4 when FortiManager attempts to push a FortiSwitch configuration containing an unsupported 'fec-state' value.

Scope

FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiSwitch.

Solution

To resolve the installation failure, remove the unsupported fec-state setting from the FortiSwitch configuration template and retry the installation.

  1. Log in to the FortiManager web interface.

  2. Go to FortiSwitch -> Templates -> Configuration Templates.

  3. Select the template used for the installation.

  4. Remove the fec-state configuration from the template.

  5. Save the template changes.

  6. Retry the installation from FortiManager.

Additional Information.
This issue is related to a known FortiManager version limitation and is expected to be addressed in a later release, including FortiManager v7.6. The workaround is to remove the incompatible fec-state entry until the fix is available.
