Troubleshooting Tip: Cloning an ADOM returns an error 'insufficient licenses'

Description This article describes how to troubleshoot 'insufficient licenses' when cloning an ADOM.
Scope FortiManager.
Solution

When cloning an ADOM, the task finished with errors:

View Progress Report shows the error was due to insufficient licenses:

When using the get system status command, it shows the Max Number of Device Groups is 10:

Further checking, the 'insufficient licenses' error was due to the total device groups. The diagnose dvm group list command shows the current total device groups:

The output shows that there are 9 total device groups. However, the same output shows the ADOM 'A' contains 3 device groups. Cloning ADOM 'A' will increase the total device groups to 12, which exceeds the Max Number of Device Groups.

 

Hence, the 'insufficient licenses' error when cloning an ADOM was due to exceeding the Max Number of Device Groups.
