Technical Tip: How to set FortiGuard update server location in FortiManager

This article describes how to set FortiGuard update server location in FortiManager.

Scope

FortiManager v7.6.2.

Solution

1. Before FortiManager version 7.6.2, the user could only enable access to the global public FortiGuard servers.

config fmupdate publicnetwork
set status enable
end

2. Starting from version 7.6.2, the user will be able to set the location from which to receive the FortiGuard updates between EU, USA, and Global. This is especially useful in reducing the latency of FortiGuard polling due to geolocation.

    

config fmupdate publicnetwork
 set status enable
 set update-server-location {eu | global | usa}
end

3. Test through ping command:

execute ping fds1.fortinet.com
execute ping usfds1.fortinet.com
