Technical Tip: How to create an 'Event Handler'

This article describes how to create an Event Handler for FortiGate to FortiManager connection failures, i.e., when the 'FGFM' tunnel is down.

Configure an Email Server.
Initial configuration:
FortiManager has to have FortiAnalyzer features enabled.
From the Dashboard, switch on FortiAnalyzer Features and confirm.
Configure the SMTP server and test it. Go to System Settings -> Advanced -> Mail Server.

Avoid using spaces in the name, 'SMTP'.

Then, validate the SMTP setting using the 'Test Mail Server' option.

A success message appears.
Create an Event. Go to Incident and Event -> Event Handler List and select 'Create New'.

Enable Email notification.
To: Sender email address.
From: Receiver email address.
Subject: As per Event.
Email Server: Company email server.
