Description This article describes how to analyze email headers to determine the source of email delivery delays.
Scope FortiMail, FortiMailCloud.
Solution
  1. Get the detailed email header from the email client such as Microsoft Outlook.

  2. Copy and paste the detailed email header into this website Email Header Analyzer and select 'Analyze Header'.

  3. If the email was delayed, the portal will show which SMTP server caused the delay. For example, by referring to the screenshot below, the email was just delayed for 40 seconds. It will show a longer delay when the email delay incident happens.
