Technical Tip: Out Of Office (OOO) messages are being blocked by FortiMail
Description
This article addresses the situation where FortiMail is configured as Gateway or transparent mode and Out Of Office (OOO) messages from the Mail server are being blocked or discarded.
Scope
FortiMail All Versions.
Solution
Go to Policy -> Access Control -> Receiving and edit policy Internal/External to the following values:
Sender Pattern: Regular Expression
Regular Expression Value: ^$
Recipient Pattern: User Defined
Recipient Pattern Value: *
Regular Expression Value: ^$
Recipient Pattern: User Defined
Recipient Pattern Value: *
Source: IP/netmask: User Defined
Value: "IP address of Mail server"
Value: "IP address of Mail server"
Action: Relay
Save the changes and now OOO messages will be relayed to the recipient.

It is necessary to configure the other required policies to allow the Outbound mail.
The above policy is for only allowing OOO mails.
