It is determined by how the mail queue is being processed.
If the message is still in the outbound queue, such as being queued, transmitting slowly, or waiting for a retry, the final delivery result will not be available yet.
A delivery status is only created after the email has either been successfully handed off to the recipient’s mail server or has permanently failed. As long as the message remains in the outgoing queue and has not been delivered or failed, no delivery status will be displayed.
