Solution

To create an Alias navigate to Domain & User -> User Alias and select 'New'.

The User Alias acts as a distribution list to translate one email address into the email addresses of several recipients called members.
For example, group1@acme.com might be an alias that the FortiMail will expand to user1@acme.com and user2@acme.com.

An alias can also be an alternative email address that resolves to the real email address of a single email user.
For example, phil.jones@acme.com might be an alias that FortiMail translates to p.jones@acme.com.

By selecting 'OK', the newly created profile is shown in the User Alias list.

In both cases, FortiMail converts the alias in the recipient fields of incoming email messages into the member email addresses of the alias, each of which is the email address of an email user that is locally deliverable on the SMTP server.

Members of an alias can include the email address of the alias itself.
