Technical Tip: How to update Firmware using FortiCloud

Description

 
This article describes how to upgrade FortiGate firmware from FortiCloud. A subscription for FortiGate Cloud is required for this feature.
 
Scope
 
FortiGate Cloud.


Solution

 

Make a backup of the FortiGate configuration before starting.

 

  1. Access FortiGate CLI and execute the following commands:
 
config system central-management
    set mode backup
    set type fortiguard     

end

 

  1. Go to the FortiCloud portal at FortiCloud and select the desired FortiGate under Assets.
  2. Go to Management -> Firmware Upgrade.
  3. Select the desired Firmware version and select Upgrade.
  4. The status will change to pending, and then the software will be downloaded and upgraded.

 

Note: Firmware upgrade using FortiCloud is not possible without a paid subscription.
