Troubleshooting Tip: The 'Restore' button is missing in FortiGate when using a custom super admin profile
| Description | This article describes how to resolve an issue where the 'Restore' button is unavailable in FortiGate when a system administrator operates with a custom super admin profile. |
| Scope | All supported versions of FortiOS. |
| Solution | The standard behavior for all FortiGate devices is that the 'Administrator' account, with the 'Super_Admin' privilege, can restore the firewall's backup configuration.
Default Super_Admin Profile:
Using the CLI:
config sys admin edit <admin user name> set accprofile super_admin end
It can be observed, however, that for any Prof_Admin or Custom_Super_Admin profile with identical 'Access Permission' settings, administrators are unable to restore the configuration, as the 'Restore' button is missing (see attachment below).
However, to resolve this issue, it is necessary to back up the FortiGate configuration, perform a flash format of the device (see Technical Tip: Formatting and loading FortiGate firmware image using TFTP ), and complete a fresh installation. Before restoring the previous configuration, ensure that the device's default 'Super_Admin' settings are aligned with those in the backup_config. Once these adjustments are made, restoring the edited configuration will resolve the issue.
