Description This article explains the cause of the error 'Speed test results have not returned in the appropriate time' that appears when performing a speed test under a specific interface, 'execute speed test'.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution When the speed test is running, the following error will appear:

This issue is often related to FortiGate’s inability to reach FortiGuard servers or incorrect time configuration (NTP), which can cause delays or failures in receiving speed test results.

 

  1. Verify the connectivity to FortiGuard Servers:

 

execute ping service.fortiguard.net
execute ping update.fortiguard.net

 

  1. Check NTP synchronization and time zone settingsIncorrect system time or unsynchronized NTP settings may cause the speed test request or response to become invalid due to time mismatches. Go to System -> Settings and ensure the Time Zone and Current system time are correctly configured.

 

After confirming both FortiGuard connectivity and NTP/timezone accuracy, re-run the speed test, it should execute without any errors.
