Description This article describes how to resolve an issue where FortiGate is unable to authorize a FortiAP connected to a Cisco Catalyst switch.
Scope FortiAP, FortiGate
Solution

Topology:

FortiAP <> Cisco Catalyst Switch <> FortiGate

To manage FortiAP, a new sub-interface VLAN is created under the FortiLink/FortiGate physical interface. The configured VLAN must be known on the Switch as a native VLAN.

Example interface configuration on Cisco Catalyst Switch:

interface <Interface Name>
description FortiAP
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan <VLANID>
switchport trunk allowed vlan <VLANID>
switchport mode trunk
exit
wr mem
