Description This article describes how to resolve the FortiClient EMS internal error caused by a DNS resolution issue. The error occurs when the endpoint fails to connect to the FortiClient EMS server due to a DNS resolution failure.
Scope FortiClient EMS, FortiGate.
Solution

To resolve the FortiClient EMS internal error caused by a DNS resolution issue, follow these steps:

  • Go to FortiClient EMS -> Settings -> Network and verify that the DNS settings are correct.
  • Check the DNS server IP address and ensure it is reachable from the endpoint.
  • Verify that the FortiClient EMS server hostname is resolvable by the DNS server.
  • Flush DNS Cache over the endpoint device (if DNS has changed recently).
  • If the issue persists:
    • Try to restart the endpoint and reconnect to the FortiClient EMS server.
    • Collect the FortiClient diagnostic log and FortiClient EMS diagnostic results file in debug mode and contact Fortinet Technical Support for further assistance.
